SWAREFLEX BECOMES FIRST AUSTRIAN COMPANY TO WIN GLOBAL ROAD ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2011Swareflex, a Swarovski Group company, was honored at a ceremony in Washington DC, USA on January 24, 2012 with the “Global Road Achievement Award 2011” in the category “Technology, Equipment & Manufacturing”. This very prestigious international prize is an annual award from the International Road Federation (IRF). Swareflex, which specializes in the development of road safety products, was able to impress the jury in two ways: with outstanding services to road traffic safety and with its groundbreaking product, the SwaroTube.
SwaroTube: robust and sustainable The SwaroTube product takes a radical new approach to the use of high performance LEDs in street lighting. Swareflex has initiated a new era of street and tunnel lighting by using crystal optics and optimized radiant geometry set in a high-grade aluminum casing. SwaroTube is widely used for safe lighting in tunnels, parking garages and industrial buildings. The electrical system, the solution for mounting the product that is separate from the lighting modules, and the customizable special glass lenses were specifically designed for these applications.
The jury was especially impressed with the environmentally friendly development, the low operating costs and the robust nature of the SwaroTube lighting module. SwaroTube is, for example, extremely resistant to the harsh environmental conditions in tunnels, such as the CO2 pollution.
Daniel Cohen, Member of the Executive Board of Swarovski, was delighted with this award:
“The Swareflex mission is to improve traffic safety through innovative products and solutions. Thus we are truly honored to be presented with the 2011 IRF GRAA Award in the category of ‘Technology, Equipment & Manufacturing’. As a long-standing member of the IRF, this achievement will encourage us to continue our mission and R&D activities in order to make the world’s traffic safer and more pleasant for its participants.”The International Road Federation (IRF) presents the prestigious Global Road Achievement Awards annually to innovative companies. This non-profit, independent organization pursues the aim of improving safety and sustainability in the areas of road- and transportation systems.
