For the improvement of lane indication in tunnels LED modules and control units are produced. The LED modules are installed on the kerbstone on both sides of the road. They are usually placed in a spacing of 15 m (49.2 feet) in the tunnel entrance area and 25 m (82 feet) throughout the rest of the tunnel. The housings of the modules are made of a flame-retardant plastic material according to UL94-V0. Power is transmitted either through a cable connection of through induction. Via an interface the control units can be connected to the tunnel control centre. The control unit regulates the LEDs’ brightness, and enables flashing mode and other functions. The products are offered under the product name SwaroLine.
SwaroExit![]() |
The analysis of past fire disasters in tunnels has revealed that escape route identification has a significant influence on the tunnel users’ behaviour. The top priority here is to improve or create conditions for escape. Under the product name SwaroExit SWAREFLEX developed products for emergency exit lighting and for dynamic escape route lighting in tunnels. The LED modules can be activated and switched to full brightness by a control unit and the tunnel control centre, respectively.
LeveLite![]() |
To improve the lane indication on roads SWAREFLEX produces flush-mounted LED modules. These products are offered under the name LeveLite. These LED modules can be traversed by snowploughs or vehicles with snow chains. The brightness of the LEDs can be regulated by a control unit and a brightness sensor. It can also be switched to different functions such as flashing mode, chaser light, etc. LeveLite can be delivered with one-way or with two-way LEDs. The LED colour can be different on each side. There is also the possibility to use 2 different colours per side.
SignFlash![]() |
The safety improvement at zebra crossings is a central topic in traffic engineering and, therefore, also for SWAREFLEX. The product SignFlash is an important contribution to the safety of pedestrians on zebra crossings. Scientific studies of the Austrian Road Safety Board have shown that after installation of this system the attention of the drivers and their readiness to stop the vehicle is 2 – 3 times higher. These results have also been confirmed by long-term field tests. SignFlash is a LED flashing unit which is installed above the traffic sign. The system is activated only if required and when a pedestrian is approaching the zebra crossing with the intention to cross it. The pedestrian is walking through a defined detection area which is determined by 2 adjustable movement sensors. For each zebra crossing two pieces of SignFlash are necessary. The communication to the SignFlash on the other side of the road is triggered wireless. Power is supplied alternatively by solar (12 V) or by mains supply (230 V). SignFlash can be used as improvement for zebra-crossing either as stand-alone unit or in combination with the flush-mounted guidance system LeveLite. |
